ClassGraphic This course is the first course of a three-term sequence of study of the American Indian language, Chinuk Wawa,  at the first-year college level. Students will (achieve beginning listening, oral, cultural and literacy competency. Determination of competency and instruction will conform to tribal, state, and college criteria. Language instruction will include activities, dialogue, and text analysis. Objectives: Students will (1) learn the sound system of Chinuk Wawa to be able to (2) converse in a variety of common everyday settings using vocabulary and structures presented in class. Emphasis is placed on daily speaking, writing, reading, and listening of Chinuk Wawa and learning about the cultures of the people who spoke and still speak the language. 4.000 Credit hours 40.000 TO 48.000 Lecture hours.
