Basic Life Support (BLS)

The AHA’s BLS course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

Who should take this course?

The AHA’s BLS Course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings.

What does this course teach?

  • High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
  • The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components
  • Important early use of an AED
  • Effective ventilations using a barrier device
  • Importance of teams in multirescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multirescuer CPR
  • Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants
The Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers course is designed to provide skills and knowledge for a wide variety of healthcare professionals, including students in healthcare fields. This course meets the CPR requirement for licensure or certification for healthcare related regulatory agencies.

Notice

Please read:  Reminders: - Classes have a max size of 10 students. - Come about 10 mins early to class so we can start on time. - Dress in comfortable clothing to perform CPR. You will be bending over and on your knees on the floor. If you have longer hair, you might consider bringing a hair tie. / Directions to the venue: 1). Upon entering the main campus by the bus station, you will see the flag poles on your right. Go straight. 2). You'll see Building 5 on your left. Go down the Health covered entrance (in between bldg. number signs 4 and 5) and go down the stairs. 3). Immediately proceed to the right entry point and you will see the Exit door of Room 126. 4). Just go straight (You'll see the restrooms on your left), and go around to your right to Enter Room 126.
