Come join us for a rollicking journey through music's history from the religious music of J.S. Bach to the music of the Mondern Jazz Quartet, Wayne Shorter, Dave Matthews, and more. Along the way we consider how music is put together, what to listen for, and why classical compositions are relevant for the underdstanding of today's music.

Examine what you know – or what you thought you knew – about American history in this interactive discussion class based The Great Courses, DVD lectures presented by Mark Stoler, an American history scholar and professor emeritus at the University of Vermont. In this DVD lecture series, Stoler breaks down common myths and half-truths about U.S. history and the subjectivity of those who documented the narrative of the country’s history. Each class includes interactive discussion periods where we will discuss key points and questions raised by Stoler in the video lecture. The first part of this course features colonial America, including the Revolutionary War through the early 1880s.
