Introduction to Kinesiology-Upper Body is the first of four required kinesiology courses. The class focuses on introductory level kinesiology concepts and principles, anatomical terminology and anatomy as related to the attachments of muscles and joint movement. This course is a foundation class in the kinesiology series of the massage program and cultivates a respectful, inclusive, and accessible learning environment while supporting creativity, experimentation, and personal transformation. Introduction to Kinesiology Upper Body is the first in a sequence of kinesiology courses.

These two introductory courses present the principles and terminology of kinesiology. Students explore muscle attachments and muscle movements and learn how to palpate. These foundational courses, which focus on either the upper or lower part of the body, share required textbooks. The Upper Body class is a prerequisite to the Lower Body class.
